Christine Gustafson has performed as a soloist and taught on four continents. She has been on the flute faculty of East Carolina University since 1993. As an orchestral flutist, she has performed in such far-flung places as Vienna, Austria, Freudentstadt, Germany, Augusta, Georgia, and Beijing, China. Dr. Gustafson has recorded for the Albany Records, Gothic, AURecords and Sphere Sound labels. Her students have been frequent performers at the NFA Annual Conventions as well as invited performers at summer festivals in the US, South America and Europe. They have gone on for further study to such distinguished institutions as The Peabody Conservatory, Cincinnati College-Conservatory and The New School for Music at Mannes College in New York, and many currently hold position as performers and educators across the US. As a Fulbright grant recipient, she brought music written by living American composers to perform in Taiwan and China, and brought Asian flute music back to the US, which she presented in San Diego at the NFA Convention in 2005. Dr. Gustafson has degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington, the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (Hochschule für Musik) in Vienna, Austria, the Eastman School of Music and the University of Texas at Austin.
